Forest Fire

Lloyd Cole & The Commotions

Submitted by: Mr Blue

When I moved to Canterbury there was a newly opened pizza restaurant across the way from my work. And it became my new hang out. The owners were really cool just a few years older than me and very easy going.Of course there was a seemlingly never ending stream of pretty waitresses, who I never quite seemed to get anywhere with and it wasn’t for the want of trying. However then there was Emma. Emma was and probably still is the most beautiful woman I have ever met. Clock stoppingly gorgeous with a wicked sense of humour, at nineteen she was everything a boy could want. And boy did I want her. But talk about out of my league, I wasn’t even close. She was one of those girls who when you are young, although she’s the same age as you, she knows much, much more than you, She loved this song and Rattlesnakes the album it was from was always on in the restaurant, so it became one of my favourites too. And it always make think of one particular hot summer night when she came in to work wearing an amazing outfit, dungarees and a very small ripped t shirt. And that’s quite enough of that, I’m sure she doesn’t remember me and if she does I’m guessing I was just the geeky kid who stared at her chest. A lot.
