I Wanna Dance With Somebody
Whitney Houston
Submitted by: Mr Blue
I now dislike this song so much that I can hardly type this. In fact I have been desperately trying to think of some other memory but here goes. Another car memory but this time it’s also tied into a girl. My first car was a little bright yellow Suzuki SC100. Funny looking thing, tiny with the engine in the back, handled like a go-kart, huge fun for a twenty year old. So there me and Andy were wondering what to do with a Sunday, so we decided to go to and see a girl I knew in Maidstone. We had gone to school together in Colchester and kept in touch with her for about a year by letter & I thought we were still friends. She lived in a shared house so she only had a payphone (no mobiles then.) so calling her would be difficult, so I thought it might be nice to surprise her. There was no cassette player or CD in the little Suzuki so it was always the local radio stations. And all they kept playing that day was this bloody record which had just come out, til we knew every bloody word and beat, there and back from Maidstone. When we got to Maidstone and this girls shared house, she wasn’t in. No worries I thought, I’ll just leave a note. Thinking nothing more of it, sure that I would get a letter saying sorry you called and I missed you. But I never heard from her again & I still don’t know why. It was still a great day out.
