The Italian Job was the first film that I can remember seeing at the cinema. I went with my mum and my brother & it was a great film. I think my childs brain coped quite well with the cliffhanger ending. However I think the title sequence has a lot to blame for the rest of my life. The scene of that Lamborghini Miura (possibly one of the most beautiful cars ever.) blasting up that Italian mountain was just fantastic. I so wanted to be the impossibly cool Italian guy smoking, throwing on his shades one handed and listening to that amazing V12 noise. With the song not being a typical driving tune it makes it more even more evocative. I think its the reason I've been addicted to cars ever since then because I just wanted to have that one moment when everything comes together. Maybe one day I'll be able to do it but I don't think it will be in a Miura! They don't handle that well anyway, especially at speed and they cost about £250000. However, hopefully my drive won't end as badly as his!
